SimplyBiz poaches ex-Sanlam man to launch adviser buy-out solution

Justin Cash

SimplyBiz has hired former Sanlam Wealth Planning chief Alex Morley to spearhead a new acquisition and exit service for member firms.

SimplyBiz says it has been exploring options with member firms who are interested in selling over the past 12 months, and has now launched a new solution, Horizon, which will provide access to dedicated consultancy support both for firms looking to leave the industry, and for those looking to expand their businesses.

The support service provider will effectively match buyers and sellers within its membership in a bid to “facilitate honest and open discussions” and “make the process as seamless as possible.”

Morley says: “Our expert, knowledgeable team, will work closely with each firm to fully explore their aims and aspirations for the future, before putting together a comprehensive step-by-step plan outlining how to achieve those aims with Horizon.”

The service, which will be exclusively for member and client firms of SimplyBiz, has been in the pipeline for a number of years, Money Marketing understands.

SimplyBiz compliance director Gary Kershaw adds: “We are committed to supporting the adviser community at every stage of their career, from our apprenticeship scheme which supports those entering the sector, right through to those who have decided it is the right time for them to leave.

“As always, the group’s focus remains on the independent advice sector and Horizon supports continuation, not consolidation, of the sector.”
