The SimplyBiz Group is a significant employer in the financial services sector and in many of the geographical locations of its offices across the UK. It believes in giving something back and both the Group and the individuals within it are committed to supporting national and local charities and worthwhile causes.
A Group-wide charity committee engages with various charities and organisations to deliver support both through fundraising and non-financial care. With nearly 500 staff employed by the Group, we are proud to be able to really go the ‘extra mile’ with staff taking part in everything from mountain climbing to tap-marathons and bake-offs in the name of a good cause!
The SimplyBiz Group is proud to sponsor, and support, Chris Bahra – our Strategic Account Manager and Team GB Duathelete. Chris is competing in duathlon, cross triathlon, aquathlon, aquabike and long distance triathlon for the Great Britain team at the ITU Fynske Bank Multisport World Championships in Denmark this July and the ETU Fynske Bank Multisport European Championships in Ibiza in October.
We wish Chris the very best of luck and can’t wait to see him leading the field!
In April 2019, our Pensions Technical Specialist Helen Shepherd will be backpacking 2,659 miles up the western United States to fundraise for Diabetes UK. The trail starts at the US / Mexican border in Campo, California and ends just over the US / Canadian border in Manning Park.
She’ll be carrying everything she needs in her backpack and wild camping along the way. The trek will involve walking around 20 miles every day, for around 5½ months, carrying at least 25lbs (11kgs) on her back, whilst negotiating terrain that will be up to four times the height of Snowdon in places. Throw in a few bears, mountain lions, rattle snakes and poisonous plants and you've got the full picture!
Ultimately, as a Type 1 Diabetic herself, Helen’s aim is to help inspire others who are living with diabetes to get out there and take part in their own adventures. If she can raise money for a very worthy cause in the process then she will be very happy indeed.
